Couchot, Weinstein Sweep CCC Weekly Awards

CCC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR THE WEEK OF OCT. 17- OCT. 23

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Freshman forward Evan Couchot (Mason, Ohio) and senior goalkeeper Nick Weinstein (Trumbull, Conn.) swept the Commonwealth Coast Conference's (CCC) men's soccer weekly awards for the first time this season as announced today by the conference office.

Couchot and Weinstein helped the Gulls to a 2-0-0 record on the week, posting back-to-back shutouts while providing the offensive firepower to lift Endicott atop the CCC standings (10-5-2, 7-1-0 CCC) heading into the final week of the regular season.

CCC OFFENSIVE/ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

EVAN COUCHOT | FRESHMAN |  FORWARD | MASON, OHIO

Couchot, a second-time CCC Rookie of the Week (09/19/16), picked up his first career Offensive Player of the Week honor as his insurance goal against UNE paved the way for a breakout performance at Wentworth on Saturday.

Couchot netted his second career two-goal match with tallies in the the 62nd and 80th minutes as the Gulls rode a second half surge off the foot of their leading scorer to halt Wentworth's unbeaten streak at 12 straight matches.

Couchot paces the Gulls with 18 points (eight goals, two assists) on the season, which also ranks seventh in points and tied for fourth in goals in the conference. Couchot's points numbers are just second among rookies to Matt Chartier of Gordon College and is tied with Chartier for most goals scored by a rookie this season to date.

CCC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

NICK WEINSTEIN | SENIOR | GOALKEEPER | TRUMBULL, CONN.

Weinstein, a two-time CCC Defensive Player of the Week honoree this season, garnered his sixth career DPOW honor as he was unblemished in goal this week.

Weinstein made nine saves, including a season-high six in conference play at Wentworth, to snap the Leopards' 12-match unbeaten streak. Weinstein and the Gulls' back line earned their CCC-leading 10th clean sheet of the season, good for the fourth time with back-to-back shutouts on the year.

Weinstein (10-5-2, 7-1-0 CCC) currently boasts the second-best goals against average among all CCC goalkeepers this season (0.74), though he has started all 17 matches, whereas Wentworth's Schallmo (0.48) has started seven of eight matches he has appeared in this season.

The Gulls return to action on Tuesday, October 25 at Gordon for the final match of the regular season at 7:00 p.m. in Wenham, Mass.
