Gulls Battle Williams To 1-1 Draw

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Endicott men's soccer team battled the host Williams College Ephs to a 1-1 double-overtime draw Tuesday night in non-conference action.

Junior forward Diego Maillo (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) opened the match with his first goal of the season just under three minutes into the contest to give the Gulls a 1-0 lead.

Junior back Tobias Muellers (Burlington, Vt.) nailed the equalizer for the Ephs in the 17th minute to knot the match at one apiece for the final tally as the two teams combined for more fouls (25) than total shots (24).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls saw their unbeaten streak extend to four matches as they made their first overtime appearance of the season.
  • Endicott has scored first in all five matches so far in 2016.
  • Endicott's 11 corner kicks were the team's most in a single match this season.
  • Senior goalkeeper Nick Weinstein (Trumbull, Conn.) made five stops in goal to move to 3-1-1 on the season.

FOR THE FOES

  • Senior goalkeeper Christian Alcorn (Richmond, Va.) did not record any saves in net for the Ephs as he moved to 2-0-1 on the season.
  • Muellers notched his first career goal.
  • The Ephs' defense allowed their first goal of the season through three matches.

NOTES

  • Today's match saw the Gulls move to 0-1-2 all-time against the Ephs, and 0-1-1 on the road.
  • The Gulls and Ephs also tied 1-1 (2 OT) last season in Beverly, Mass. on 10/13/15.
  • Endicott and Williams both received one vote in the latest NSCAA DIII Top 25 Poll as of September 13, 2016 

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (3-1-1, 0-0-0 CCC) will host Curry College to open CCC play on Saturday, September 17 at 7:00 p.m. as the Gulls will honor five seniors: Weinstein, back Jonathan DeJesus (Bridgeport, Conn.), midfielder Paul Erne (San Diego, Calif.), forward Brion Likaj (Salem, Mass.), and back Shay Neary (Trumbull, Conn.).

Williams (2-0-1, 1-0-0 NESCAC) welcomes Colby on Saturday, September 17 for a NESCAC contest at 12:00 p.m.
