No. 5 Men’s Rugby Places Third At NCR Small College National Championship

HOUSTON, Texas — The No. 5 nationally ranked Endicott men's rugby team defeated No. 6 Catholic, 33-19, in the National Collegiate Rugby (NCR) Small College National Championship Third Place Match on Sunday afternoon.

Today's result marks the best finish in program history for the Gulls in the NCR 15s National Championship.

Jack Leahy (Swampscott, Mass.), Brad DiGiacomo (Simsbury, Conn.), Graham Lynch (Windsor, Conn.), Teyshawn Jackson (Windsor, Conn.), and Joseph Matteo (Simsbury, Conn.) all scored tries in the historic victory.

Lynch also added four conversions to round out the offense.

Meanwhile, James Carew (Simsbury, Conn.) earned Defensive Player of the Match accolades for his overall efforts on the pitch.

Ryan Curley (Marshfield Hills, Mass.) concluded the individual highlights for the Gulls by receiving the NCR Spirit and Heart Award, which is given to the most influential team player in the tournament.

  • The Gulls went 11-0 during their 2018 season; finished fourth overall at the 15s National Championship
  • Ranked as high as No. 5 nationally in 2022
