Four Gulls Garner All-CCC Honors; Smith Named Coach of the Year

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott men's golf team saw four student-athletes garner Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) postseason honors on Friday, while head coach Tom Smith was named CCC Coach of the Year for the sixth time in his 10th year at the helm. The accolades follow a  2021-22 season in which the Gulls claimed the eighth CCC title in program history, and advanced to the NCAA DIII Championship for the fourth time.

The Gulls saw Tyler Baker (Falmouth, Maine) and Nicholas Grimbilas (Strafford, N.H.) receive All-CCC First Team accolades, while Brady Burke (Bedford, N.H.) and Frank Mahoney (Braintree, Mass.) received All-CCC Second Team nods.

TYLER BAKER | SO.

Baker was named to the All-CCC First Team for the first time in his collegiate career. The Falmouth, Maine native produced an average round of 77.2 strokes throughout eight events which consisted of 12 rounds of play. For the 2021-22 season, the sophomore claimed two top-five, four top-10, and five top-20 finishes, which included finishing tied for fourth at the CCC Fall Qualifier (78), and tied for seventh at the two-day CCC Championship (154). NICHOLAS GRIMBILAS | JR.

For the second straight season, Grimbilas has received All-CCC First Team honors. Grimbilas' First Team nod followed a season in which he averaged a team-best average of 76.1 strokes across seven events and 11 rounds prior to NCAA DIII Championship play. The junior was named CCC Golfer of the Week twice during the year as he earned one medalist honor and finished as the runner-up at the CCC Fall Qualifier with a round of 75. Grimbilas also closed the year with two top-five finishes, four top-10's, and four top-20's. The Strafford, N.H. native also posted a low round of 71 for the season which came at the WIlliams Invitational.

BRADY BURKE | FR.

The lone freshman to earn All-CCC honors for the Gulls, Burke impressed during his freshman campaign, garnering All-CCC Second Team honors as a result of his efforts. The Bedford, N.H. native finished third on the team with an average round of 78.6 throughout the 2021-22 campaign. Burke finished the year with three CCC Rookie of the Week nods and was at his best when it mattered most, finishing third at the CCC Championship as he helped the Gulls bring the CCC title back to Beverly, Mass. Burke closed the year with two top-five finishes, two top-10, and three top-20 efforts while posting a low-round of 74 prior to the NCAA DIII Championship. He then improved upon that personal best, firing an even-par 72 on day two of the NCAA DIII Championship to finish tied for 80th individually.

FRANK MAHONEY | SO.

Mahoney followed up his CCC Rookie of the Year honor from last year with an All-CCC Second Team performance in 2021-22. The sophomore finished with two top-five performances, two-top 10's, and three top-20's on the year, which included a low-round of 73.
