WELLESLEY, Mass. – The Endicott College field hockey team matched its longest winning-streak of the season as the Gulls made it three-straight wins with a 2-0 blanking of Wellesley College on Thursday afternoon in Wellesley, Mass. \#Joanne Reid\# (Clarksville, Md.) scored a goal and added an assist to help the Gulls improve to 7-6 on the season, while Wellesley falls to 7-5 with the non-conference loss.
In a tightly contested first half, Endicott dented the scoring column at the 20-minute mark as \#Alexandra Parese\# (Wilton, Conn.) took a feed from Reid and knocked her third goal of the season over the left shoulder of the Wellesley keeper, putting the Gulls ahead, 1-0.
The first half proved to be an even match-up between the teams, with Endicott holding a slim 8-6 advantage in shots while Wellesley recorded five penalty corners to Endicott's four. However, Gulls keeper \#Taylor Teixeira\# (Exeter, N.H.) picked up four first-half saves to send Endicott into the break with a 1-0 lead.
Reid would score a goal of her own in the second half, her team-leading eighth of the season. With 17-minutes to play in the game, the junior fired a rocket at the goal, but the shot hit the post. However, Reid grabbed her own rebound and sent it past Blue keeper, Sarina Sawyer (Wilmette, Ill.), stretching the Endicott advantage to 2-0.
Wellesley fired off three shots over the remaining 17 minutes, but couldn't pick up a score, ending the game 2-0 in favor of Endicott.
