Four-goal first half propels Gulls past Anna Maria
Box Score

BEVERLY, Mass. – Three different players scored a goal, including a pair by \#Anna Giannoni\# (Granby, Conn.), as the Endicott College field hockey team rolled to a 4-0 victory over Anna Maria College on Saturday afternoon in Wenham, Mass. The Gulls improve to 5-6 and 3-1 in TCCC play, while Anna Maria drops to 1-8 and 0-4 in Conference. The game was played at Gordon College due to unplayable field conditions at Endicott’s North Field.

Endicott was quick to jump on the board as Giannoni netted her first goal of the contest just over three minutes into the game off a pass from \#Hannah Thornberg\# (Oakland, Maine). The duo connected again nearly five minutes later as another cross from Thornberg found Giannoni’s stick and gave Endicott the 2-0 advantage.

\#Lindsey Mills\# (Arlington, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season as she corralled a rebound and blasted a ball into the net. Classmate \#Joanne Reid\# (Clarksville, Md.) rounded out the scoring for the Gulls as the junior scored from just inside the circle on a penalty corner. \#Lauren Atkinson\# (Soutbury, Conn.) took the free hit for the Gulls and placed a perfect pass to Reid.

The Gulls took six more shots in the second half but could not add to their lead. Anna Maria responded with three shots of their own, however, only one of them was on goal. Time eventually ran out on the rain-soaked game as the Gulls walked away with an important, 4-0, decision in conference play. Endicott held the edge in most statistical categories as the Gulls outshot the AMCats 18-4 and took 11 penalty corners to Anna Maria’s three.

\#Taylor Teixeira\# (Exeter, N.H.) improves to 5-6 this season while making two saves on four shots faced. Allysa Boykin (Worcester, Mass.) falls to 1-8 this season despite thwarting six Endicott shots. Anna Maria’s Angela Giuffrida (Leicester, Mass.) led the AMCats attack with three shots including one on goal.

The Blue and Green return to action on Tuesday with another TCCC contest, this time against cross-town rival Gordon College at 4:00 p.m. in Beverly, Mass. Anna Maria returns home for a TCCC matchup against Nichols College on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
