Box Score

BEVERLY, Mass. – \#Joanne Reid\# (Clarksville, Md.) scored her team-leading seventh goal to lead four different Endicott College scorers in a 4-0 victory over cross-town rival Gordon College in TCCC field hockey action on Tuesday afternoon in Beverly, Mass. The Gulls improve to 6-6 and 4-1 in the TCCC while the Fighting Scots drop to 2-9 and 1-2 in conference play. \#Lauren Atkinson\# (Southbury, Conn.) also added a goal and an assist for the Gulls.

The first half was all Endicott as the Gulls held a 14-1 edge in shots in the frame. Reid got the scoring started as she notched her seventh goal of the season off a penalty corner when her blast from just inside the circle glanced off a Gordon defender and into the back of the net. \#Lauren Atkinson\# put the Gulls ahead, 2-0, as she corralled a missed \#Anna Giannoni\# (Granby, Conn.) shot and put it past the Fighting Scots’ Alicia L’Heureux (Dudley, Mass.). Later in the half, Atkinson found an open \#Alexandra Parese\# (Wilton, Conn.) who scored to make it a 3-0 lead heading into the break.

After the half, Gordon had their best opportunity of the contest off a Fighting Scots corner as Heidi Lavigne (Westport, Mass.) took a shot on what appeared to be an open net. Endicott’s \#Taylor Teixeira\# (Exeter, N.H.) came out of nowhere, however, to make the diving stop to thwart the Gordon attack. Gordon kept the ball in the Endicott half of the field for the majority of the period until the Gulls worked the ball back into Gordon’s half, leading to a \#Hannah Thornberg\# (Oakland, Maine) tip-in goal off a shot from \#Taylor Matties\# (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) to ice the game for Endicott.

Gordon held the edge in both corners and shots in the second half but could not find the goal. In the game, each team had eight penalty corners while Endicott outshot the Fighting Scots, 18-6. Teixeira picked up her third shutout of the season, and sixth win overall, by making four stops while her counterpart Alicia L’Heureux made three saves in dropping to 2-6 this season.

The Blue and Green return to action on Thursday as they step out of conference to travel to Wellesley, Mass. for a matchup with Wellesley College 4:30 p.m. Gordon travels to Weston, Mass. for a makeup game with Regis College at 3:30 p.m. in TCCC action.
