Bulldogs too much for Gulls

Bulldogs too much for Gulls

Nov. 13, 2006

As the Endicott Gulls took a trip down to Rhode Island to face the Bryant University Bulldogs, spirits were high, after coming off a convincing 7-3 victory of Marist College. The first period opened with a quick goal from Bryant to go up 1-0. The Gulls would fight back in the next few minutes as freshman Drew Moore struck with a nice rebound goal in front of the net to tie the game at 1-1. After the Endicott goal, Bryant took control of the rest of the period as they notched another two past freshman Matt Murray.

By the start of the second period it seemed as though the Gulls had come to play as they were able to regain some of the momentum from Bryant. However, somehow the tables turned and Bryant was able to put another shot past Murray putting them up 4-1. The rest of the period was hard fought until Drew Moore struck again to close the gap to 4-2 at the end of the second.

The third period brought four goals to the table as senior forward Ben Dodge notched his first goal of the season to once again close the gap to 4-3. At this point it seemed as though the Gulls were going to pull off a comeback win only down by 1, but Bryant answered Dodge's goal with two others. Each goal was simply a defensive breakdown, as Murray was left alone to stop two great shots that beat him. The Gulls were now down 6-3 and a comeback victory was too far away. However, junior forward Chris Garofalo took matters into his own hands as he put one past the Bryant goalie with ease, but it was too late. With only twenty seconds remaining, the Gulls could only watch the remaining seconds tick away as the skated to a loss. The Gulls look forward to avenge the loss later in the season when they host Bryant in early December. The Gulls will play again tomorrow, November 11, at home against a powerful Siena team who they tied earlier in the year. The puck is set to be dropped at 7:00.
