Haugh Named Endicott Head Ice Hockey Coach

BEVERLY, MA - Endicott College named Dan Haugh, former Salem State College standout defenseman, the new head men's ice hockey coach Tuesday, September 19, 2006. Haugh served as assistant coach at Endicott for three seasons under former head coach Brian Wylie, who stepped down to pursue doctoral studies this fall.

Wylie, the Director of the Post Center at Endicott, will remain involved with the team as the Advisor, overseeing scheduling, transportation, the budget and other administrative duties. Wylie amassed an impressive 47-29-3 record over four seasons, guiding the program from its inception. Wylie also started the Gulls' men's lacrosse program in 1995, earning a two-year record of 17-10 as an independent club team.

Haugh, a 2002 graduate of Salem State, was part of the Vikings club that reached the ECAC East Finals in 2001. He was a captain as a senior and SSC was 60-37-9 in his four seasons, scoring eight goals and adding 19 assists over his final three seasons with the Vikings. Haugh will continue to develop the Endicott hockey team which aspires to become an eventual NCAA Division III varsity program.

Endicott finished the 2005-2006 campaign with a 12-10-0 record and reached the Northeast Collegiate Hockey Association playoff quarterfinals. The Gulls will open the 2006-2007 season at Siena College on September 30 before returning home for a three-game home stand against Daniel Webster (October, 7), Western Connecticut State University (October, 14) and Montclair State (October, 21). All home games will be at 7:00 PM at the Johnson Rink on the campus of the Pingree School in South Hamilton.
