SENIOR SEND-OFF: Endicott Cheerleading Program

(The goal of our Senior Send-Off articles is to highlight teams and student-athletes who did not get to finish their season of competition and/or have their respective Senior Day games/events happen. We also hope that these stories serve as a positive light to anyone who reads them during these trying times.)

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott cheerleading team was scheduled to compete in the 2020 NCA Collegiate Championship in April before the event was canceled due to COVID-19.

The team was led by four seniors — Meaghan DelGenio (Melrose, Mass.)Emily Dellisola (Derry, N.H.)Rachel Galante (Reading, Mass.), and Hannah Wilson (Bedford, N.H.) — whose respective legacies will forever have an impact on the program athletically and academically.

Here's what head coach Jennifer Riley had to say about the four seniors.

2020 Senior Class

"Our seniors on the cheerleading team were the driving force in our success this season. Although our time was cut short and we were not able to compete at nationals, our seniors led the team to bring joy to all those in attendance at football and basketball games highlighting their talents and skills. They truly showcase the pride of Endicott and what it means to be a Gull. I have been very fortunate to work with these young women the last two years since I began coaching at Endicott and am truly honored to have had them by my side to help teach the Endicott way to our student-athletes. Our team has become much stronger than before and that is all thanks to the seniors with their leadership and guidance. These four young women are irreplaceable and it has been a blessing building this program with them."

Meaghan DelGenio

"Meaghan devotes herself to everything she signs up for, nothing ever gets less than 100%. Her determination to be there for her team is the main reason our Gulls were so fortunate to have her as a member of our program. Meg would jump into any role asked even if it wasn't her typical role, she would commit and do it for her team. Her mental and physical strength was an asset to our program and a great reason for our success along the way."

Emily Dellisola

"Emily was one of our captains for the past two years and truly led our team in a positive way. She put her best foot forth and led by example, driving our team with her passion and love of the sport. Emily lives for being the best she can be, not only for herself but for her teammates as well. Always being a support for our new/incoming student-athletes, Emily was a go-to person for any questions they may have had attempting a new skill."

Rachel Galante

"Rachel has made such a positive impact while being part of this program. She has not only stepped up to help in whatever role was needed but was also one of our captains this year helping to guide our team in a positive direction. Rachel always kept practices light and fun with her joking, happy personality. We are thankful to have had the time with her this season we did!"

Hannah Wilson

"Sometimes coming off shy, Hannah is one of the funniest people I have met. Hannah was also one of our captains this year and truly pushed our team to fight for what they wanted, no matter how difficult the skill/task may be. Her laugh brightens up anyone's day! She is so passionate about everything that she puts her mind to, I know only great success will come her way in the future."
