Endicott Ranks 67th Overall In Fall Directors’ Cup Standings

LEARFIELD STANDINGS

BEVERLY, Mass. – Following a successful fall sports season, the Endicott College varsity athletics program is ranked 67th overall out of more than 400 NCAA Division III schools in the 2023-24 Learfield IMG Directors' Cup standings.

The Directors' Cup is awarded to the athletics program with the most broad-based participation and success in NCAA Tournament postseason competition.

Standings for the Directors' Cup are based on a points system that rewards a school's finish in up to 18 sports – nine men and nine women – in NCAA Championships.

Included in the fall rankings are the following sports: men's and women's cross country, field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, and men's water polo.

The Gulls compiled 75 points via their NCAA Tournament finishes in field hockey (25), football (25), and women's soccer (25).

Endicott ranks first among all Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) schools and is tied for 12th overall amidst all New England institutions in the fall Learfield IMG Directors' Cup standings.

  • The Gulls placed 53rd overall last year and 47th in 2021-22 (second-best finish ever).

SCORING SYSTEM EXPLAINED

Overall, 18 sports are counted in the final DIII standings, four of which must be men's and women's soccer and men's and women's basketball. The next highest (14 max.) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender, are used in the standings.

Fall sports: men's and women's cross country, field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, and men's water polo.

Winter sports: men's and women's basketball, fencing, men's and women's ice hockey, rifle, skiing, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's indoor track and field, men's wrestling.

Spring sports: baseball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, women's rowing, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, men's volleyball, women's water polo.
