Endicott advances in ECAC Tournament; defeat Daniel Webster 3-1

Endicott College, the \#1 seed in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women’s Volleyball Tournament, played host to the \#8 seed Daniel Webster College in the quarterfinals and defeated the Eagles 3-1 (25-14, 25-15, 24-26, 25-11). 

The Gulls (23-15) advance into the ECAC Semifinals to be played on Saturday, November 13 against familiar foe Colby-Sawyer College at 3:30 pm in Beverly.  The Eagles end their 2010 season with a 18-8 after reaching the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Championship for the second straight season. 

Endicott pulled off 25-14 and 25-15 wins in the opening two sets before Daniel Webster took a stand in the third set winning 26-24. In that third set with the score knotted at 23-23, Eagles sophomore Chelsey Crawford (Westfield, Mass.) struck down three kills out of four points to push her team to forcing a fifth and deciding set. Crawford totaled a team-high 16 kills and served two aces in the match.

Endicott regained composure in the fourth and final set, mounting a six-point streak to take a commanding 21-9 advantage on the way to a match victory. 

The Blue and Green were led by fourth-year outside hitter \#Brittany Phillips\# (Sudbury, Mass.) who amassed 17 kills with just five errors while defensively getting 17 digs. Complementing Phillips on the attack were \#Elyse Barbour\# (Greenville, R.I.) and \#Falyn Torelli\# (Pelham, N.Y.) who each had eight kills and only one error. The Gulls had a .369 attack percentage as a team. 

Setting for Endicott was junior \#Sarah Allshouse\# (Berthoud, Colo.) who dished out 38 assists while her counterpart Caitlyn DePierro (Billerica, Mass.) had 26.

At the net, the Gulls had eight team blocks. \#Amy Grigg\# (Vernon, Conn.) added four block assists to her program record and freshman Callie Dolan (Westford, Mass.) had one solo and two assisted stops of her own.

Daniel Webster libero Amanda Wilson (Merrimack, N.H.) led the Eagles with 12 digs. Also contributing offensively was junior Emily Travis (Somerset, Mass.) who recorded six kills in the loss.
