Gulls earn two TCCC wins at home tri-match
Beverly, Mass. – The Endicott women’s volleyball team hosted Wentworth Institute of Technology and Western New England College in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) tri-match and won both of their matches to improve to 13-6 (5-1 TCCC).
Match One – Wentworth vs. Endicott
Endicott defeated Wentworth 3-0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-8) in the first match of the day thanks to a well-balance attack and strong defense from the Gulls. The victory improved the Blue and Green 12-6 (4-1 TCCC) while the Leopards dropped to 4-11 (1-2 TCCC).
Endicott’s \#Falyn Torelli\# (Pelham, N.Y.) tied with Wentworth’s Julie Bruton (Montgomery, Texas) for a match-high eight kills, but it was the Gulls supporting cast that was the difference maker.
The Gulls got quality offensive contributions from freshman \#Callie Dolan\# (Westford, Mass.) and senior \#Amy Grigg\# (Vernon, Conn.) who each added seven kills in the win. Both players were also active defensively at the net as Dolan had two solo blocks and Grigg recorded a solo and assisted block of her own.
Endicott’s defenders were alert with junior \#Sarah Allshouse\# (Berthoud, Colo.) tallying a team-high eight digs while offensively dishing out 24 set assists. Gulls senior \#Ally Murphy\# (Gilford, N.H.) had a the second most digs on the team with seven. Wentworth sophomore Rebecca Williams (Brockton, Mass.) led all players with 11 digs in the match. She also had 20 assists from the setter position.
The Blue and Green also got a solid overall performance from freshman \#Carly Beers\# (Traverse City, Mich.) who finished the match with four kills, six assists, and six digs. 
Leopards senior Sam Vinciguerra (Somersworth, N.H.) was effective for the visitors with five kills with just one error and Julie Rahilly (Nashua, N.H.) and Meaghan Doyle (Preston, Conn.) both added four kills apiece. 
Match Two – Western New England vs. Endicott
In the final match of the day, Endicott won 3-1 (25-17, 16-25, 25-18, 25-22) over Western New England College in a contest between two of the top teams in the TCCC. The Gulls finished the tri-match with a 13-6 mark, 5-1 in conference while the Golden Bears ended the day 8-10 overall, 4-1 in conference.
The Gulls took set one in convincing fashion, but the Golden Bears rallied behind a strong performance from Maureen Pollet (Dix Hills, N.Y.) who finished the game with 11 kills. In the second set, WNEC won 25-16 to tie up the match. Endicott, however, rebounded from a tough second set to win sets three and four to earn an important TCCC victory.
Senior \#Brittany Phillips\# (Sudbury, Mass.) led all attackers with 19 kills with just five errors. She also recorded a team-best 19 digs, defensively. Torelli was the only other Endicott player to reach double-digit kills as the sophomore finished with 10. The Blue and Green were strong on defense in general as \#Ashley Norley\# (Sudbury, Mass.) and Murphy had 16 and 10 digs each. At the net, Allshouse had three block assists and as the team’s setter finished with 47 assists. 
WNEC was led by Samanthan Shomo (Glen Gardner, N.J.) who had a team-high 12 kills. Two Golden Bears players had double-digit digs as Shomo had 10 and libero Marci Egbert (Wayne, N.J.) had a match-high 20.
WNEC’s setter Katherina Boes (Buffalo Grove, Ill.) registered 33 set assists in the loss.
The Gulls will be back in action on Tuesday, October 5 at 7:00 pm for a road match against TCCC rival Colby-Sawyer College.
