Endicott back in TCCC Championship after 3-0 win over Colby-Sawyer

Behind 17 kills and 21 digs from senior outside hitter \#Brittany Phillips\# (Sudbury, Mass.), the \#2 seed Endicott Gulls defeated the \#3 seed Colby-Sawyer Chargers 3-0 (25-13, 25-23, 27-25) to advance to The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) championship match for the first time since 2008. 

Phillips led an Endicott (22-14) squad that sported a .209 hit percentage as she connected on 17 swings for kills on 49 attempts with six errors. Junior \#Elyse Barbour\# (Greenville, R.I.) reached double-digit kills with 10 for second consecutive playoff match and setter \#Sarah Allshouse\# (Berthoud, Colo.) recorded 42 assists in the victory. Barbour was also a presence at the net, blocking three Charger attacks. 

Colby-Sawyer’s (19-14) offensive efforts were led by senior Michelle Doody (Franklin, Mass.) whose 16 kills were a team-high. Doody also contributed defensively with 10 digs and two blocks, one solo and one assisted.   Middle Emilee McBride (Strafford, N.H.) spiked home eight kills and made three blocks at the net. 

Both teams liberos were effective all match with Colby-Sawyer’s Ally Le-Bruno (Medfield, Mass.) recording 29 digs and her counterpart \#Ashley Norley\# (Sudbury, Mass.) earning 26 digs. 

Endicott came out of the gate quickly in the first set, rushing to an 8-3 lead before the Chargers called timeout. Phillips tallied seven of her 17 kills in that first set 25-13 win and sophomore \#Falyn Torelli\# (Pelham, N.Y.) was errorless with five kills for the home team. Torelli would finish with nine kills in the match. 

Colby-Sawyer, however, would rebound in the second set despite being down 14-7. The Chargers rallied to score nine of the next 11 points to even the score at 16-16. During that stretch, the visitors were led by three kills by Doody and two aces by senior Stef Turner (Boxborough, Mass.). The two teams exchanged points, but a kill by Barbour and block assists by Torelli and \#Callie Dolan\# (Westford, Mass.) lifted the Gulls to a 25-23 set win. 

The Chargers looked poised to earn their first team point in the third set, holding a 24-20 lead but Endicott rallied behind a Phillips kills and three opponent errors to tie the match at 24-24. The Blue and Green took a 26-25 advantage and with a Barbour kill, Endicott won 27-25 and finished off the straight set victory. 

Endicott reaches the TCCC Championship for the fifth time seven years and hopes to earn their first conference title since 2008. The Gulls will be facing off against \#1 seed Roger Williams who defeated the \#4 seed University of New England 3-0 in their semifinal contest. Roger Williams bested Endicott 3-1 back on September 29. 

The TCCC Championship will be played on Saturday, November 6 at 1:00 pm in Bristol, R.I.
