Endicott 9, Western New England 0; Gulls Remain Unbeaten in CCC

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Endicott women's tennis team continued to be one of just two teams in the CCC with an unbeaten league record as the Gulls improved to 5-2 (4-0 CCC) following a 9-0 victory over Western New England on Wednesday.  

Endicott's doubles teams gave up just one game in three matches as the Gulls held a 3-0 lead after doubles action.  Junior Amy Heacox (Marion, Mass.) and freshman Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) finished first, winning 8-1, followed by 8-0 victories for sophomores Suzie Newman (Dighton, Mass.) and Brittany Potter (Bedford, N.H.) as well as juniors Chrissy Martel (Westbrook, Conn.) and Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine) at #3 and #1 doubles, respectively. 

Each singles match up went to Endicott in straight sets.  Egbert came off the court first after taking #3 singles 6-0, 6-0 followed by Heacox at the #2 position 6-1, 6-0.  Freshman Skyelar MacLeod (Portsmouth, R.I.) made her first appearance of the season at the #6 spot with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over her Golden Bear opposition.  Potter and Newman, coming off their doubles win, each earned a straight set wins at the #5 and #4 flights and Martel took down the top singles opponent from Western New England 6-2, 6-2.  

The Blue and Green face off against North Shore Cup and non-conference rival Salem State on Saturday, September 21st at 12:00 pm.  Salem State is 1-1 on the season.
