BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's tennis team started their 2013-14 season at home on Friday afternoon against non-conference rival Colby-Sawyer and beat the Chargers 8-1 at the South Campus Courts to improve to 1-0 overall.
The Gulls won two out of three doubles matches before sweeping all six singles flights. Endicott has now won five out of their last six matches against Colby-Sawyer, dating back to when the Chargers were members of the CCC. Endicott plays Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm on the road against NEWMAC opponent Wellesley.
Colby-Sawyer (0-1) won the #1 doubles match behind solid play from senior Elizabeth Lincoln (Plymouth, Mass.) and sophomore Ashlyn Ramsay (Barkhamsted, Conn.), taking the match 8-4. The Chargers return to the North Shore on Monday, September 2nd to face-off against Gordon.

The Gulls did not drop a set in singles play, as Potter (#6), Rhodes (#4), and junior Natalie Egbert (Gorham, Maine) in the #3 singles spot solidified the win by getting Endicott to five points. A 6-1, 6-1 win for sophomore Suzie Newman (Dighton, Mass.) at #5 singles as well as wins for junior Chrissy Martel (Westbrook, Conn.) and Heacox at the top of the lineup, finished up the match.
