Endicott Climbs to #12 in USILA Top-20 Ranking

USILA NCAA Division III Top-20
NEILA Regional Poll Week Three

BEVERLY, Mass. – The United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) released their week two NCAA Division III top-20 rankings and the Endicott men's lacrosse team jumped eight spots to the #12 position with 122 total votes, two shy of #11 Lynchburg out of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

Endicott did not have a game on schedule last week but their February 23rd victory over the previously 23rd-ranked Stevens Ducks, as well as early season movement by other programs, catapulted the Blue and Green to their highest ranking since prior to the 2011 season. Endicott was ranked #13 in the country going into that season after coming off a 2010 campaign that saw them go 14-8 overall, win the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship, and reach the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

The Gulls have a pair of games this week against tough non-conference contenders in Connecticut College (Wednesday) and Eastern Connecticut College (Saturday) and victories could push Endicott higher in the national polls. Connecticut College (1-0) received 11 votes towards a top-20 ranking while Eastern Connecticut (1-0) is the preseason favorite to win the Little East for the third straight year.

Endicott is now the only team from the CCC ranked nationally after Western New England dropped out of the poll following an 0-2 start to the season. The Golden Bears were #11 on last week's USILA Top-20 release.

At the regional level, Endicott remained #3 in New England according to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) behind Tufts (#4, USILA) and Springfield (#10, USILA), who jumped up three spots since last week. Endicott plays Springfield at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida on March 19th and faces Tufts on the road April 8th
