Anderson Named To CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District First Team

2015 CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District™ Football first team

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott junior defensive lineman Craig Anderson (Franklin, Mass.) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ Football first team for the second time in his career. The NCAA Division III District 1 team includes all schools in Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont.

The CoSIDA Academic All-District program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined academic and athletic performances. First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.

In the classroom, Anderson currently sports a 3.86 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as a criminal justice major at Endicott. Anderson has earned several academic awards during his career at Endicott including New England Football Conference (NEFC) Academic All-Conference accolades and Endicott Academic Club laurels in addition to his pair of CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District first team honors.

On the field, Anderson leads the NEFC in sacks (8.5) and sack yards (42) this season to go along with 22 solo tackles and 16 assisted tackles (38 total, 4.8 per game). Nationally, Anderson ranks No. 18 in the country among 179 student-athletes in sacks and No. 78 among 199 student-athletes in tackles for loss per game (1.4).

Anderson is the fifth Endicott football student-athlete to be recognized on the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Team. Anderson is joined on that list by Casey McDonnell '13, Mike Wheeler '13, all-time leading rusher Mike Lane '12, and Mike Zupkofsky '12. In total, the aforementioned group has earned eight CoSIDA Capital One Academic citations, the most of any program at Endicott.

This is the fifth year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA recognizes four teams - NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-District™ Team combines NAIA, Canadian, and two-year schools.

Previously, CoSIDA recognized a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I). With four teams now being selected, CoSIDA has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored.
