BEVERLY, Mass. – For the fifth time this season, Endicott freshman inside linebacker William Rivera (Orangeburg, N.Y.) has been named the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Defensive Rookie of the Week.
Last weekend against Salve Regina University, Rivera notched his second career interception (34 yards), and posted a team-high nine tackles (seven solo, two assisted) to lead the Gulls' defensive efforts in a 40-21 loss to the Seahawks.
Rivera, who has been named the NEFC Defensive Rookie of the Week five times so far this season (9/7/15, 9/14/15, 9/19/15, 10/1/15, 10/17/15), currently ranks third overall in the conference in solo tackles (33), fourth in interceptions (2), sixth in total tackles (49), seventh in tackles per game (8.2), and 13th in assisted tackles (16).
