ORLANDO, Fla. - Endicott College closed out its 2008 spring trip by splitting with the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts on Friday, taking game one 5-2, and then dropping a 10-0 decision in the second contest. The Gulls will fly back to the North Shore with a 5-4 record to begin their season.

Aaron Santos (Cambridge, Mass.) tore it up in the Gulls 5-2 victory. Santos went 3-for-3 and scored two runs in the win. Freshman Luis Uribe (Boston, Mass.) was also impressive, batting 2-for-2 with a scored run and an RBI. Gavin Softic (Athol, Mass.) also drove in two runs in the win. Erik Fields (Swampscott, Mass.) notched his first win of the season, tossing five complete innings of five hit, two run baseball for the Blue and Green.

Endicott got on the board in the first as the Gulls reeked havoc on the base path. Dan Gomez (East Longmeadow, Mass.) and John Skutnik (Pittsfield, Mass.) pulled off the double-steal, as Gomez robbed second and Skutnik scored from third on the throw.

Endicott struck again in the fourth as Santos led off with a double to left. After moving over to third on a fly out by Gomez, Softic poked a sac fly to centerfield allowing Santos to tag for the 2-1 lead. Two batters later, Brian Andersen (Grafton, Mass.) hit an RBI single to right, plating Uribe for a two run cushion.

The Gulls would score two more times before the end of the game as Gavin Softic made good use of back-to-back singles by Santos and Gomez with an RBI single of his own. Luis Uribe smacked a sac fly to center to score Gomez, giving the Gulls the 5-2 win.

Despite the 10-0 loss in game two, Endicott will return to Beverly with an above .500 record. The Gulls will begin their New England campaign with a 5-4 overall record, as the Gulls are scheduled to host Bridgewater State College on Tuesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Check back to www.ecgulls.com for updates regarding game time and field conditions for the Endicott home opener on Tuesday.
