CCC Cross Country Championship Results
WENHAM, Mass.- Looking build upon this year's successful regular season, both cross country programs competed at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championships hosted by Gordon. The women were paced by Erin Haynes' (Oakham, Mass.) sixth place finish as the team finished fourth while the men were led by Zachary Marshall's (Hinesburg, Vt.) 17th place finish to place 6th at the meet.
Haynes' time of 24:18 placed her sixth overall and just 14 seconds behind the fifth place runner from UNE. This was the fourth top-10 finish of the season for the senior as she has been the top Endicott runner in every race to date.
Kiera Malone (Woburn, Mass.) finished 32nd overall and earned 26 points for the Gulls as she crossed in a time of 26:26. Just behind Malone was junior Grace Brigham (Montpelier, Vt.) who traversed the 3.73 mile course in a time of 26:39 to finish in 38th place. With her finish, she also earned 28 points for the Gulls while Holly Rigoli (Waltham, Mass.) ran a strong race and earned 29 by crossing in 40th with a time of 26:53. Senior Jocelyn Kane (East Longmeadow, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for Endicott, crossing in 46th place with a time of 27:06 to earn and even 30 points for the Gulls.
For the men, freshman Zachary Marshall continued his solid freshman campaign as he led the Gulls yet again with his 17th place finish. Led by his efforts, the Gulls received 160 points which placed them sixth, nine behind WNE in fifth and seven ahead of Salve Regina in seventh. Marshall's time of 28:42 earned him 17 points as he has now been the top Endicott finisher in every race.
Sophomore Noah Mondello (Gloucester, Mass.) was second for the Gulls and 29th overall as he finished in a time of 29:19. His time earned him 27 points as he has now finished as a top two Endicott runner at the last two CCC Championship meets. Senior Alex Walecka (North Dartmouth, Mass.) ran one of his strongest meets of the year, crossing in a time of 30:18 to finish 39th overall and with 35 points. Kidder Spillane (Shelburne, Vt.) finished just two seconds after Walecka with a time of 30:20 and in 40th place. Mitchell Renfrew (Barkhamstead, Conn.) raced well also, finishing in 59th place with a time of 30:59 and earning 45 points to close out the scoring for the men.
Both squads will run in the ECAC Championships next Saturday at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass. as one final tune-up for the NCAA DIII New England Regionals in Williamstown, Mass. on the 15th of November.
