BACK-TO-BACK! Women’s Track & Field Captures Second Straight CCC Championship

PORTSMOUTH, R.I. — The Endicott women's track and field team successfully defended its conference crown behind a full team effort on Saturday evening at the 2024 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship, hosted by Roger Williams at Portsmouth High School.

Endicott scored 152 total points to rank ahead of Suffolk (130), the University of New England (112), Gordon (99), Roger Williams (91), Wentworth (3), and Nichols (1).

The Gulls event breakdown for points included sprints (19), hurdles (24), distance (44), throws (8), jumps (43), and relays (14).

In total, the Blue and Green compiled four first place finishes, seven runner-up placements, and four third place performances to capture its second straight CCC Championship.

Student-athletes who place first (gold medalist), second (silver medalist), or third (bronze medalist) in an event earn All-Conference First Team, Second Team, and Third Team honors.

Postseason awards will be voted on by the league's head coaches next week. Following the voting period, the conference will recognize a Track Athlete of the Year, Track Rookie Runner of the Year, Field Athlete of the Year, Field Rookie of the Year, and Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Coaches will also vote on winners for Coach of the Year and Team Sportsmanship.


GOLD MEDALISTS

  • Kinneal Dickens (Merrimac, Mass.) won the long jump (16-6.75) and triple jump (34-3, school record/personal record) for the second straight year.
  • Olivia Novello (Ipswich, Mass.) bested the field in the 100m hurdles in 16.07.
  • Hannah Risko (Albany, N.Y.) broke the tape in the 800m with a school record/personal record time of 2:18.40 (previous: Risko, 2:19.27, 4/20/24).

SILVER MEDALISTS

  • The 4x400m relay consisting of Colleen McLaughlin (Ipswich, Mass.), Julia Maclaine (North Easton, Mass.), Gabby Peniche (Milford, Mass.), and Kaylee Whitney (Milford, Mass.) registered a school record time of 4:09.70 (previous: 4:16.81, 4/8/23).
  • Brianna am Ende (East Lyme, Conn.) tied for second in the high jump (4-9.75).
  • Logan Baxter (Coventry, R.I.) claimed runner-up honors in the triple jump with a personal record mark of 33-3.25.
  • Chloe Crear (Pelham, N.H.) notched a school record/personal record in the 400m hurdles (1:09.49; previous: Crear, 1:11.47, 4/13/24).
  • Maclaine clocked a second place time in the 400m run (1:00.11).
  • Risko set a school record/personal record time of 4:45.78 in the 1,500m (previous: Risko, 4:49.22).
  • Alexa Suchy (Guilford, Conn.) ranked second in the 3,000m steeplechase in 11:54.85, bettering her New England qualifying and personal best time in the event by more than 17 seconds.

BRONZE MEDALISTS

  • The 4x100m relay consisting of Novello, Kaylee Carver (Abington, Mass.), Whitney, and Gabrielle Freitas (Middleboro, Mass.) notched a season best time of 51.33.
  • Maclaine clocked a time of 27.15 in the 200m.
  • Taylor Moynihan (Hingham, Mass.) had a personal record mark of 111 feet and nine inches in the discus.
  • Risko completed an impressive distance triple with a school record/personal record time of 18:11.59 in the 5,000m (previous: Risko, 18:20.83, 4/13/24).

ADDITIONAL ENDICOTT SCORERS

  • am Ende was sixth in the 1,500m run with a personal record time of 5:03.46.
  • In the 800m, am Ende placed fourth (2:28.24), while Such was fifth (2:31.06, PR).
  • Dickens ranked fourth in the 100m hurdles (17.26).
  • McLaughlin and Peniche went fourth (1:00.94) and sixth (1:01.87) in the 400m, both PRs.
  • Baxter finished fifth in the pole vault (9-2.25, PR).
  • Moynihan placed fifth in the shot put (32-11.25, PR).
  • Katie Ritzer (Dover, Mass.) and Novello went fourth and fifth in the high jump (4-8, each).

ADDITIONAL PERSONAL RECORDS

  • Corinne Robert (Mattapoisett, Mass.) ranked 15th in the 1,500m (5:29.17).
  • Whitney was seventh overall in the 400m (1:02.51).
  • Freitas finished 13th in the 200m (29.06).
  • The 5,000m crew of Sofia Moukaddem (Weston, Mass.), Gwen Catalano (Buxton, Maine), and Lulu Steele (Bedford, Mass.) all had PRs in the event (19:16.04, 19:30.71, 20:27.58).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott will compete at the NCAA Division III New England Championships from May 3-4 at Mount Holyoke College.
