CCC CHAMPIONSHIP: Suchy, Shepard Place Top-5 In 3K Steeplechase

WENHAM, Mass. — The Endicott women's track and field team opened up competition in the 2024 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship on Thursday evening at Gordon College.

Alexa Suchy (Guilford, Conn.) led a trio of Gulls in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a second place finish in 11:54.85.

Suchy bettered her New England qualifying and personal best time in the event by more than 17 seconds.

For her efforts, Suchy earned CCC All-Conference Second Team (silver medalist) honors in the 3k steeplechase. This is her first career CCC All-Conference award.

Student-athletes who place first (gold medalist), second (silver medalist), or third (bronze medalist) in an event earn All-Conference First Team, Second Team, and Third Team honors.

Hannah Shepard (Keene, N.H.) also ran the 3K steeplechase for the first time in her career and placed fourth overall with a New England qualifying time of 12:06.91. The New England standard in the event is 12:15.00.

Cate Herndon (Westwood, Mass.) rounded out the group with a season best time of 14:00.03 (8th place, 40+ seconds faster than her previous season best).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott will compete on day two of the CCC Championship tomorrow evening in Portsmouth, Rhode Island at Portsmouth High School. Tomorrow's lineup will feature the 100m hurdle prelims, long jump, and hammer throw, all starting at 4:30 PM.
