Women’s Tennis Turns Away Eastern Nazarene, 9-0

QUINCY, Mass. – The Endicott women's tennis team remained perfect in CCC play on Saturday as the Gulls shut out Eastern Nazarene, 9-0, at the ENC Tennis Courts.

Freshmen Reilly Fitzgibbons (Killingworth, Conn.) and Lauren Rahr (Waterford, Conn.) improved to 5-1 in the CCC as a doubles pairing with a decisive 8-0 victory at the No. 3 position to begin the match.

Classmates Hayley Barnett (Marlboro, N.J.) and Margot Andreasen (Portland, Maine) followed with an 8-1 win in the No. 2 slot, while sophomore Maxine Bergstein (Hingham, Mass.) and junior Mackenzie Rhodes (Rye, N.H.) earned a hard-fought 8-6 triumph at No. 1 to take a 3-0 advantage into singles.

Barnett, Andreasen, Fitzgibbons, and Bergstein all went on to win their respective singles matches (No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 5) as the quartet only dropped a combined eight games. Bergstein highlighted the group with a 6-0, 6-0, win at the No. 5 position.

Freshman Gillian Freter (Scituate, Mass.) picked up her fifth career win in the No. 4 slot with a 6-1, 6-0 decision, while sophomore Katie Javaruski (Mansfield, Conn.) remained undefeated (2-0) at No. 6 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory to round out the list of winners for Endicott.

"We played well in all four phases of the game – serving, returning, baseline and net game," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Jeremy Howard. "I am happy with our effort today, but we will now shift our focus onto a tough Gordon opponent who we play on Wednesday at home."
