BEVERLY, MA -- Sophomore Stephanie Branch (Boothbay Harbor, ME/Boothbay Harbor) won a super tiebreaker at sixth singles and the Gulls received impressive play at second and third doubles to remain undefeated after a thrilling 5-4 victory over Gordon College Wednesday afternoon.
The Gulls (4-0, 3-0 CCC) split singles play with the Fighting Scots (3-2, 2-1 CCC). Branch helped the hosts earn the split at singles, winning 7-6, 5-7 and 10-8 in the super tiebreaker to set up the dramatic finish at doubles.
Endicott junior Carli Conners (Medina, OH/Medina) and junior Brianne Cogan (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga) defeated Gordon's Leslie Potts (Quaker Hill, CT) and Jennifer Schneider (Sayville, NY), 8-2, at second doubles while freshman Kate Roundy (Simsbury, CT/Simsbury) and sophomore Nicole Leveille (Atkinson, NH/Timberlane) beat Elizabeth Malmstrom (Branchville, NJ) and Taryn Knerr (North Prairie, WI), 9-7.
Other winners for the Gulls at singles were Lauren Gibbons (Shaker, Heights, OH/Shaker Heights), 6-2, 6-4 and Blythe Langley (North Hampton, NH/Winnacunnet), 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. Roundy lost at first singles for the first time this season, 6-2, 6-1 to Gordon's Diana Anderson (Sandwich, MA) while Potts and Schneider were also victorious for the Scots at singles.
Gordon's Anderson and Erin Davidson (Moorestown, NJ) won at first doubles over Langley and Gibbons.
Endicott puts its undefeated record on the line Saturday when it travels to Regis.
