BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott College women's lacrosse team, led by junior Alex Pearce's (Underhill, Vt.) nine goal performance, defeated New England College by the score of 25-14 in a TCCC Quarterfinals match on Tuesday at Endicott Stadium in Beverly, Mass.
The Gulls came out of the gate strong, scoring the first four goals of the game, including two by sophomore Kristen Micho (Syracuse, N.Y.).
The Pilgrims fought back with goals from sophomore Lauren Bickford (Lebanon, Maine) and junior Emily Tanguay (Manchester, N.H.) to cut the Endicott lead in half at 4-2.
EC responded by going on a 3-1 run as sophomore Valerie Feldman (Albany, N.Y.), attacker Alex Pearce, and junior Samantha Morin (Kennebunk, Maine) all found the back of the net to put the Gulls up 7-3.
After Tanguay had scored back-to-back goals for NEC, Micho answered with two consecutive scores of her own.
With Endicott leading by the score of 10-5 and only 1:42 left in the first half, the Pilgrims rallied to score three times, including Tanguay's fourth of the period, to cut the lead to 10-8 at halftime.
Tanguay and the Pilgrims picked up right where they left off in the second half, as the junior found the back of the net once again to make it a one-goal game.
The Gulls showed why they were the number one seed by immediately responding with a 6-1 run, as Alex Pearce took over the game for Endicott. Pearce scored seven times in the second half alone, as the Green and Blue notched the game's final six goals to capture a 25-14 victory.
The Pilgrims were led by Emily Tanguay's team-high eight points on eight goals. Alex Pearce stood out for the Gulls with a game-high nine goals and 10 points. Sophomore Kristen Micho also added six goals and three groundballs in the win.
With the loss New England College drops to 4-12 on the year. Endicott improves to13-5, and will move on to the TCCC Semifinals held on Thursday at Endicott Stadium in Beverly, Mass. Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
