Gulls Draw #5 Seed, Head to Western New England for CCC Quarterfinals

BEVERLY, Mass. -- Endicott's women's basketball team has earned the #5 seed in the upcoming Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball tournament and will travel to #4 Western New England on Tuesday at 7:00 pm for their quarterfinal matchup.

Endicott (15-10, 11-7 CCC) is making its 11th consecutive appearance in the CCC tournament, dating back to the 2002-03 season. During that time, the Gulls have reached the CCC finals on three occassions, including last season, but are still looking for the first conference championship in program history.

Western New England posted a 15-10 record this year, with a 12-6 mark in conference play. The two teams played to a split record against each other this year, with Endicott winning in Beverly, 56-50 in January and Western New England returnin the favor with a 62-52 victory at home earlier this month.

Endicott is 7-4 all-time against Western New England, though the Golden Bears have won two of the last three meetings. The teams have met just once in the postseason, a 2009-10 quarterfinal game in Beverly when the Gulls emerged with a 59-57 victory.

The Golden Bears have made postseason appearances all six years now since joining the CCC in 2007-08.

The University of New England has earned the top seed with a perfect CCC record of 18-0, along with an overall record of 21-4. UNE will be seeking to capture its first CCC Tournament title since 2010.

UNE will host #8 seed Wentworth (11-14, 6-12), while #2 seed Roger Williams (18-7, 14-4) will host #7 seed Curry (10-15, 6-12) and #3 seed Salve Regina (15-10, 12-6) will host #6 seed Eastern Nazarene (11-14, 6-12). All four quarterfinal games will tip off at 7:00 p.m.

Quarterfinal winners will advance to the semifinal round which will be played on Thursday, February 21 at the sites of the higher seed. Games are scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m., but may be altered in the event that one institution hosts both a men's and a women's contest.
