Endicott Improves to 5-0 in CCC with Victory at Wentworth

BOSTON, Mass. – Freshman Kelsey Cuddy (Madison, Conn.) scored 15 points and grabbed 7 rebounds and Endicott ended the game on a 15-1 run to pull away from Wentworth for a 57-34 victory in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) women's basketball action on Thursday night.

Cuddy played just 18 minutes off the bench, but was instrumental in helping Endicott improve to 9-3 overall. The Gulls also stayed perfect in the CCC, running their conference record to 5-0.

Wentworth falls to 7-6 on the season, and sees their conference mark dip to 2-4.

Cuddy, who saw the first minutes of her career in Endicott's previous two games, capped her breakout performance with six steals, a new individual high for the Gulls this season.

Senior guard Jen McBrien (Medfield, Mass.) scored ten points and grabbed ten rebounds, registering her first double-digit game and second double-double of the season. McBrien's first double-double of the year, which came November 28th against Salve Regina, saw her dish out ten assists, while also grabbing ten rebounds. On Thursday night, the senior co-captain also had four steals and four assists.

Junior Ashley Stowe (Voluntown, Conn.) led the Leopards with 8 points on 4-9 shooting, but the hosts as a team shot just 14-50 (28%) from the field.

Endicott was more effective from the field, shooting 40% behind Cuddy (5-8) and junior Julie Manning (Hull, Mass.), who was 5-6 from the floor and scored twelve points off the bench.

Wentworth took their only lead of the night at 13-12 on a three-pointer by Megan McLaughlin (Southington, Conn.), who had five points off a Leopards bench that was outscored 29-7 by the Endicott reserves.

The Gulls ended the first half ahead 26-17, and though Wentworth was able to pull within four points in the early stages of the second half, the Gull's defense allowed them to grab a lead that would only dip below double digits once more before the end of the game.

Endicott junior Jennifer White (Lisbon, N.H.) was the final Gull in double-digits, scoring ten points and grabbing eight rebounds.

Kendra Kerr (Marshfield, Mass.) and Ashley Conway (Danvers, Mass.) scored seven points apiece for the Leopards, while Stowe and Carly Rogers (Scarborough, Maine) led Wentworth with seven rebounds each.

The Gulls will continue their three-game road trip this weekend, heading to Curry for a 1:00 pm game on Saturday against the Colonels.

Wentworth will be on the road on Saturday as well, travelling to Roger Williams for a 1:00 pm matchup.
