Box Score

BOSTON, Mass. - Endicott College got double-figure scoring from three different players and shot nearly 50% from the field, as the Gulls downed Emerson College, 77-52, in non-conference action on Tuesday night in Boston, Mass. With the win, Endicott evens its record to 3-3 while the Lions slip to 6-3.

Sophomore Ashley Vitale (Wilmingtron, Mass.) led the gulls with 22 points while teammates Nicole Duchesne (Plaistow, N.H.) and Nicole Young (Rockland, Mass.) chipped in with 15 and 12 points, respectively.

A Rachel Hews (Nashua, N.H.) layup broke a 6-6 tie at the 15 minute mark and gave Endicott a lead it would not relinquish. A three-point shot by Duchesne with 12:13 remaining in the first half gave Endicott a seven point lead. Two free throws by Kathy Andrade (Hull, Mass.) and a layup by Lauren Zaniboni ( San Diego, Calif.) brought Emerson to within three, but that was as close as the Lions would get for the remainder of the game.

A jump shot by Vitale gave the gulls a 14 point margin with 4:50 left in the half and the Gulls entered halftime with a 37-25 cushion, the key stat being a 17-5 edge for Endicott in points off turnovers.

Endicott sealed the victory by scoring the first 11 points of the second half. Vitale notched six points and Kaylin Burke (Leominster, Mass.) poured in five points as the pair did all the damage on the run. Emerson was never able to get closer than 18 points for the remainder of the contest.

Maude Okrah led Emerson with 20 points, with Zaniboni chipping in 12 points and nine boards. Andrade and Andrea Kosek (Latham, N.Y.) each had 10 in the losing cause.

Endicott returns to action on Thursday evening as the Gulls stay out of conference with a road contest against Bridgewater State. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Emerson is idle until Saturday, December 13 when the Lions host a 3:00 p.m. contest with Lesley University.
