BRISTOL, R.I. - The Endicott College women's basketball team won its fifth consecutive game Thursday evening with a 72-53 victory over the Roger Williams University Women's Basketball team. The Gulls used a 15-5 run over the final five minutes of the first half to gain the momentum towards the win. Endicott improves to 14-4 (5-1 TCCC) while the Hawks drop to 5-12 (3-3 TCCC).

After leading 7-1 at the 16:40 mark, the Hawks scored eight of the next nine points in the game to go up by one. RWU maintained that lead through a majority of the first half, with its largest lead a seven-point margin when Casey Anderson (Cohasset, Mass.) put in a jumper to make it a 19-12 game.

Yet the Gulls held the Hawks to only four points over a seven-minute stretch to climb their way back into the game. Nicole Duchesne (Plaistow, N.H.) knocked down a pair of free throws with 4:50 to play to give Endicott a 23-22 lead that the Gulls would not give up the rest of the game.

Endicott picked up where it left off in the opening of the second half, with 12 points in the first five minutes of the period, while the Hawks could only manage a three by Kate Malenczak (Sayville, N.Y.) over that same stretch. With Endicott leading 49-31, the Gulls maintained its double-digit advantage over the remainder of the game.

Duchesne paced the Gulls with a game-high 21 points. Ashley Vitale (Wilmington, Mass.) scored 19 for Endicott to go along with seven rebounds, while Ashley Wright (Merrimack, N.H.) chipped in with 12 points.

Malenczak, Jackie Criss (Westwood, Mass.), and Carly Spagnola (Millbrook, N.Y.) each scored eight points for the Hawks, with Heather Babin (Danvers, Mass.) contributing seven points, 11 boards, and six assists.

The Blue and Green return to action on Saturday as they travel to cross-town rival Gordon College for a TCCC matchup at 1:00 p.m. Roger Williams will host Colby-Sawyer in TCCC action at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at well.
