BEVERLY, Mass. — Seven members of the Endicott men's volleyball program claimed New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) postseason honors earlier today, highlighted by Bryn Lipton (Rockford, Ill.) and Ryan Healy (Fair Lawn, N.J.) who were named Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, respectively, as announced by the league office.
Along with his Player of the Year accolades, Lipton joined Troy Riorden (Fairport, N.Y.) and Donovan Dey (Fairport, N.Y.) on the NECC All-Conference first team. Meanwhile, Jeremy Doski (Sandy Hook, Conn.) and Seth Braquet (Destrehan, La.) rounded out the list of All-Conference honorees for the Gulls with a selection to the NECC All-Conference second team. Lastly, Gabe Felicetti (Charlestown, R.I.) was tabbed to the NECC All-Sportsmanship Team.
BRYN LIPTON | NECC PLAYER OF THE YEAR | NECC ALL-CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM
In 25 matches played, Lipton compiled 3.30 kills per set (221 total), a .285 hitting percentage, 0.60 blocks per set, 0.51 service aces per set, 1.99 digs per set (133 total), and 4.2 points per set (281 total).
Lipton ranks in the top-10 among all NECC student-athletes in the previously mentioned categories. Lipton also ranks No. 10 nationally in points per set and No. 18 nationally in aces per set.
Additionally, Lipton is the first student-athlete in program history to earn Player of the Year honors since John Osborne '16 (Freehold, N.J.) did so in 2015.
Only a sophomore, Lipton is now a two-time NECC All-Conference first team selection, Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honoree. Lipton is the only student-athlete in program history to garner Rookie of the Year and Player of the Year accolades in a career.
RYAN HEALY | NECC DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Healy shined for the Gulls all season long from the back row compiling 193 total digs (2.38 per set) in 26 matches played. Healy currently ranks second in the conference in total digs and fourth in digs per set. Meanwhile, nationally, Healy is positioned No. 51 among 200 student-athletes in digs per set.
Healy also played a pivotal role in Endicott's serve-receive aiding the Gulls to a current No. 1 national ranking in assists per set, while additionally helping the squad be positioned No. 29 in digs per set.
Healy is the first student-athlete in program history to Defensive Player of the Year honors since Aaron Jessee '14 (Okinawa, Japan) won the award in 2014.
DONOVAN DEY | NECC ALL-CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM
Dey notched 2.92 kills per set (187 total), a .366 hitting percentage, 0.64 blocks per set, 0.44 digs per set, and 3.3 points per set (213) in 25 matches. In the NECC, Dey ranked fifth in kills per set, eighth in total kills, third in hitting percentage, 51st in digs per set, sixth in total blocks (41), and fifth in blocks per set.
Nationally, Dey ranks No. 16 in hitting percentage and No. 59 in points per set.
This is Dey's first career NECC All-Conference honor.
TROY RIORDEN | NECC ALL-CONFERENCE FIRST TEAM
In 25 matches played, Riorden posted 2.51 kills per set (191 total), a .270 hitting percentage, 0.20 assists per set, 0.22 blocks per set, 0.54 service aces per set, 2.32 digs per set, and a 3.2 points per set (242.5).
Among all NECC student-athletes Riorden ranked high atop the league in the following categories: kills and kills per set (7th), hitting percentage (10th), assists per set (25th), service aces (3rd), service aces per set (2nd), digs (6th), digs per set (5th), blocks (24th), blocks per set (28th), points (6th), and points per set (7th).
Meanwhile, nationally, Riorden is No. 12 in aces per set and No. 52 in digs per set.
Riorden is now a two-time NECC All-Conference selection (one first team | one second team). Riorden also was named to the NECC All-Sportsmanship Team along with his All-Conference second team selection.
SETH BRAQUET | NECC ALL-CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM
Braquet posted 1.70 kills per set (119 total), a .421 hitting percentage, 0.94 blocks per set, 0.77 digs per set, and 2.4 points per set (168.5) in 26 matches played.
The junior middle currently ranks No. 13 and No. 16 in kills and kills per set, respectively, and first in block assists (55), total blocks (66), and blocks per set, and No. 8 in block solos. Nationally, Braquet also is No. 19 in blocks per set among 200 student-athletes.
This is Braquet's first career All-Conference honor.
JEREMY DOSKI | NECC ALL-CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM
A first-time NECC All-Conference selection, Doski tallied 2.20 kills per set (143 total), a .343 hitting percentage, 0.22 assists per set, 0.48 blocks per set, 0.49 digs per set, and 2.5 points per set (160).
Doski ranked among the league's best in the following categories: kills and kills per set (11th), hitting percentage (4th), assists (26th) and assists per set (24th), digs (48th) and digs per set (49th), blocks (12th) and blocks per set (13th), points and points per set (13th). Nationally, Doski also ranked No. 23 in hitting percentage.
YEAR IN REVIEW
Endicott posted a 23-4 record (12-0 NECC), which marks the eighth 20-win season in program history, and were ranked as high as No. 14 nationally on the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) National Top-15 Poll (first appearance since 2011). The Gulls also won the 2018 NECC regular season title, and advanced to the league championship match for the seventh straight season. Prior to this year, the Gulls rattled off five straight NECC title wins from 2013-2017.
