Endicott tabbed as #3 seed in TCCC Tournament

April 17, 2009

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - After an impressive 10-5 regular season, including going 7-2 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference, the Endicott College men's tennis team has been announced as the \#3 seed in the upcoming TCCC Tournament as announced by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye on Thursday. The Gulls will host the Golden Bears of Western New England College (7-7, 4-5 TCCC) on Saturday April 18th at 11:00 a.m. in Beverly, Mass.

Endicott defeated WNEC earlier this year as the Gulls traveled to Springfield, Mass. for their conference opener on March 27th. The Gulls dropped all three doubles matches before winning 5-of-6 singles matches to secure the win. Josh Schoen (Phoenix, Ariz.) blanked Alex Boutin (Bristol, Conn.) 6-0, 6-0 to start singles play. Dan Murray (Coventry, R.I.) then got the best of Brian Relihan (Orange, Conn.) in come-from-behind fashion, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1, while Devon Locke (St. Croix, Virgin Islands) swung past Mike Jones (Stone Ridge, N.Y.), 6-4, 6-3. Scott Teller (Granville, N.Y.) dominated Steve Genovese (North Haven, Conn.), 6-1, 6-2 to even the score, and then Mike D'Ambra (Barrington, R.I.) got the game-winner with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Jason Lee (Scarsdale, N.Y.).

These two teams met in the TCCC quarterfinals last season on April 19th as Endicott cruised past the Golden Bears 7-2. Since the Golden Bears' inception into the TCCC in 2007-08, Endicott has posted a 3-0 record against WNEC by scores of 5-4, 7-2, and 5-4.

In the event of inclement weather, the TCCC quarterfinal matchup will be moved to Bass River Tennis Club, located at 31 Tozer Road in Beverly, Mass. and played indoors. For more information on the Bass River Tennis Club, please click here. Directions to the facility follow.
