Box Score

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott College’s \#Colin Doody\# (Wethersfield, Conn.) netted his eighth goal of the season in the Gulls’ 1-0 victory over Nichols College in The Commonwealth Coast Conference action on Saturday evening in Beverly, Mass. The Gulls improve to 5-5 this year and 4-2 in the TCCC while the Bison fall to 7-3 and 3-3 in conference play.

Neither team produced much offense through the first 18 minutes of play except for a pair of shots from \#Bryan Lee\# (Rockport, Mass.). Endicott finally got on the board as Lee made crossed the ball to the far post allowing Doody to head it out of the air and past the outstretched arms of Nichols net minder Brendan Hamilton (North Attleboro, Mass.) for an early 1-0 lead. Neither team threatened in the rest of the half as both teams’ shots missed their mark. The Bison could only muster four shots in the period with only one of them being on net which was saved by \#Daniel Higgins\# (Kingstown, R.I.).

The Gulls were outshot in the second half, 6-3, but none of the Bison shots would reach goal. For Endicott, Doody just missed out on his second goal of the contests as his header that appeared to be headed for an open net was thwarted away by Hamilton. Nichols’ \#Mark Capitanio\# (Mansfield, Mass.) had the best opportunity for the Bison as his shot with just over 11-minutes to play just missed the net by inches, creeping past the cross bar and out of bounds. Both teams’ defenses held strong as time slowly faded off the clock, capped off by Higgins robbing a throw-in from the Bison on their last possession and kicking it to midfield to end the game.

Both teams took 10 shots a piece in the contest while Endicott held the edge in corners, 6-2. The game was marred by penalties as 23 fouls were called including seven yellow-cards amongst the two teams.

Higgins improves to 5-5 overall while making one save in the contest and earning his third shutout of the season. Brendan Hamilton falls to 7-3 despite making four stops in the game.

The Blue and Green return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Newport, R.I. for a TCCC matchup with Salve Regina at 4:00 p.m. Nichols also heads to the Ocean State as the Bison will face-off against Roger Williams in a conference game scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
