BRISTOL, R.I. — The Endicott men's basketball team defeated the Roger Williams Hawks (RWU), 86-75, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) showdown on Tuesday night at the Roger Williams Campus Rec Center Gymnasium.
Elijah Kinney (Nashville, Tenn.) posted his eighth double-double of the season via a team-best 17 points (8-15 FG) and a game-high 16 boards.
Drew Brown (Pelham, N.H.) tacked on 13 points (5-8 FG, 3-4 3PT) alongside four rebounds and four dimes in 21 minutes off the bench.
Jalen Echevarria (Lynn, Mass.) and Jeff Hill (Lynn, Mass.) notched 15 and 10 points, respectively.
Following a back-and-forth first six-plus minutes of the contest, the Gulls generated an 11-2 scoring surge to take a 20-13 advantage. Brown spearheaded the spurt with eight points over a 2:09 stretch.
RWU chipped away at Endicott's lead as the first half saw eight lead changes and six ties. The Blue and Green held a slim 40-39 edge at the break.
The visitors created momentum for the rest of the matchup courtesy of lockdown defense, which turned into efficiency on the offensive end. Endicott erupted for a dominant 23-7 stretch in the second half (16:26-8:54) to take their largest lead of the contest, 72-55.
Seven different student-athletes scored during the burst, ignited by five points from Hill, while the duo of Kinney and Parker McLaren (Newburyport, Mass.) each netted four.
The Blue and Green never gave up the double-digit lead to claim the road triumph.
