USBWA NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK RELEASE
BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott sophomore guard Keith Brown (Pelham, N.H.) has been named the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Division III Men's Basketball National Player of the Week. Brown is the first student-athlete in program history to earn this honor since it has been awarded (2014-15 season).
Brown averaged 41.5 points in the Gulls' (2-0) two opening-week victories. Competing at the Babson Invitational, Brown scored 38 points (13-of-26 FG, 2-of-2 FT, 10-of-19 3FG) as Endicott defeated Regis 75-70 on Saturday. His 10 three-pointers set a team record and are tied for the most in a Division III game this season. Brown also totaled six rebounds, two steals and a block in the game.
Then, on Sunday against defending National Champion Babson (No. 7, d3hoops.com), he scored 45 points (15-of-25 FG, 5-of-5 FT, 10-of-15 3FG) – just two short of the Endicott single-game record – as the Gulls registered a 90-80 victory.
Selected MVP of the tournament, Brown finished the weekend averaging 41.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks. He shot 54.9 percent (28-of-51) from the field, 58.8 percent (20-of-34) from three-point range and a perfect 100 percent (7-of-7) from the foul line.
For his efforts, Brown was also named the Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Week.
