Box Score

WNEHAM, Mass. - Sophomores Joanne Reid (Clarksville, Md.) and Lindsey Mills (Arlington, Mass.) each scored a pair of goals as Endicott rolled over Philadelphia Biblical, 5-0, in non-conference field hockey action on the campus of Gordon College Friday afternoon. The contest marks the first win of the year for the Gulls, as each squad was playing in its respective season opener.

Freshman forward Anna Giannoni (Grandby, Conn.) got the scoring started as she buried her first collegiate goal with 20:55 left in the opening half, quickly giving Endicott a 1-0 lead. Joanne Reid doubled the advantage just 3:35 later as she took a feed from freshman Alexandra Parese (Wilton, Conn.) and found the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. The Blue and Green would enter the break with a two goal advantage.

EC poured it on in the second half as Reid powered home her second of the afternoon just minutes into frame number two. Lindsey Mills then put in back-to-back tallies off assists from Jennifer Beech (Devonshire, Bermuda) and Francesca Cacace (Pembroke, Bermuda) to give Endicott the 5-0 win.

Senior goalkeeper Chelsea DeFeo (York, Maine) was only called upon to make three saves in the winning effort. The Endicott defense stood tall all afternoon as they denied several corner opportunities in the closing minutes to preserve the shutout.

With the win, Endicott moves to 1-0 while Philadelphia Biblical slips to 0-1. The Gulls return to action on Saturday afternoon as they meet Eastern University for a 2:00 p.m. start in Wenham, Mass.
