EC Gulls Blow Away UNE Noreasters

Sept. 27, 2003

Biddeford, ME - Endicott field hockey had all the right moves today as they matched up against conference opponent UNE away in Biddeford, ME.

The Gulls came out fighting and took the lead after just 8:30 mintues went by. Jen McCormack (Jr./Milton, MA) rushed in to score off of an assist from Ashley Wallace (So./Hudson, NY). UNE answered two minutes later with a goal of their own, unassisted by Sarah Olivo. The teams held at one all to go into half-time, despite EC's out-shooting and out-possessing UNE, 6 shots to 3.

In the second half, EC again out shot UNE. EC's defense stepped up to defend against 7 penalty corners. Erin Curry made six saves for the Gulls in the half. As time ran out, the scoreboard was unchanged, still reading 1-1. Both teams sent seven players out for the first period of overtime.

While UNE and EC each took two corners in OT, EC's offense dominated out-shooting their opponent 6-1. At 84:02, Jen McCormack recorded her third point of the day when she passed the ball to Kim Doody. Doody slammed in a shot from the far right side of the circle, placing it in the opposite corner of the goal for the game winner.

This was EC's second overtime victory in as many tries. Doody has had both overtime game- winners for Endicott. With today's win, the Gulls improve their record to 6-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
