BEVERLY, MA - Endicott fall teams are preparing for postseason play after a successful regular season. The women's soccer team will face Western Connecticut State University Saturday, November 12 at Wheaton College.
The Gulls are making their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance and fifth overall. Sophomore striker Paula McGinn (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical) leads the team in goals (20) and points (45) and was named the CCC Player of the Year prior to Endicott's 2-0 CCC Title victory over Gordon College Saturday.
Endicott (14-3-1) allowed just one goal in three CCC Tournament games, while posting 14. Goaltender Tina Loguidice (Hyde Park/F.D. Roosevelt) has enjoyed a stellar junior season, posting 11 shutouts with help from junior sweeper Staci Wiencko (Pembroke, MA/Notre Dame Academy) and senior fullback Katie Cederberg (Grafton, MA/Grafton), who was named the CCC Senior Scholar-Athlete.
Senior midfielder Jillian Zagura (Hudson, MA/Hudson) and junior forward Caitlin D'Amario (East Longmeadow, MA/East Longmeadow) have also sparked the offense. D'Amario has 12 goals and 29 points while Zagura posted 29 points on 10 goals.
Although the field hockey team (13-6) lost in the CCC semifinals to eventual champion New England College, 2-1, the Gulls earned the seventh seed in the ECAC Tournament and will travel to No. 2 Mt. Holyoke College Wednesday (1:30 PM).
Junior netminder Erin Curry (Hampstead, NH/Gould Academy) has 11 shutouts and is among the Division III leaders in goals against average (0.92) and save percentage (.863).
Ashley Wallace (Hudson, NY/Taconic Hills), the lone senior on the team, has a goal and four assists from her midfield position. Sophomore forward Jennifer Rheaume (Blackstone, MA/Blackstone-Millville Regional) and junior forward Lindsay Fallon (Southampton, NY/Southampton) are the Gulls' leading goal scorers, netting 13 and 12, respectively.
The women's volleyball team lost to Colby-Sawyer in the CCC Championship but made the ECAC Tournament as a No. 5 seed and will face Rivier (No. 4) Friday at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT. Match time is 5:00 PM.
Endicott's equestrian team won Reserve High Point at the Boston College Show over the weekend. The Gulls will resume competition in March.
The football team finished up its best season to date. The Gulls (7-3) led the nation in interceptions with 30 and fell one game shy of representing the Boyd Division in the NEFC championship game. Endicott will await a possible ECAC tournament selection, which takes place November 14th.
