Kayak Club

The Endicott College Kayak Club is a group of people that enjoy the Atlantic Ocean and whitewater without the need for a noisy motor. All members of the Kayak Club have access to the squad of boats totally free of charge. Starting at about Halloween and lasting until the Ocean gets back up to a safe temperature, the boats are in storage. For the rest of the year, members can use the boats during any daylight hour.

All members of the Kayak Club have access to the boats, and to become a member there is a short certification process that each member must complete prior to taking out a kayak. PFD (Personal Flotation Devices) must be used at all times by everyone using the boats. Secondly, the buddy system is a critical requirement of using any of the kayaks that ensures safety and proper boat protocol.

Kayak Club members most commonly launch the boats from Endicott Beach (across the street from Brindle Hall) and depending on the experience of the people paddling, the direction and the distance is chosen. Tupper Beach, the south end of the Endicott College Campus (0.75 Miles) is a common destination. Misery Island, down the shoreline and just off the coat (2.5 Miles) is a trip for more advanced Kayakers.

All of the Endicott Kayaks are open top boats, meaning that it is impossible to get stuck in them if the boat happens to flip over. Also, in order to take the boats out pre-approved members of the Kayak Club have to check the boats out from Campus Safety leaving your Endicott ID, cell phone numbers, and time of return. All of the boats have waterproof first aid kits, towropes and whistles.
