Gorham, ME-- Endicott won the first of two against the University of Southern Maine, and rallied back in the second, mustering a 4-4 tie, before the game was called due to darkness.
In the second inning, the Gulls scored three runs on RBI singles by senior Katie Doherty and sophomore Ashley Labella. Nicole Reather had a RBI on a fielder's choice, giving the Gulls the 3-1 lead.
In the fourth, Paula McGinn scored on an RBI single by senior Megan Young and freshman Rachel Pearson drove in the final run with a sacrifice fly in the seventh. With the win, the Gulls improved their overall record to 16-2.
Kelly Bregman pitched into the sixth inning to tally a win, and Robyn Savitske earned the save by getting the final out in the sixth and then retiring the side in the 7th. Ashley Labella and Doherty each had two hits for the Gulls.
In the second game, with one out remaining, senior Elyse Colby tripled home the tying run, as the Gulls rallied back to even the score at four. The Gulls were up by two in the top of the 8th, but the game was called due to darkness, and because a full inning was not played, the score (4-4) reverts back to the previous, full inning.
The Gulls picked up two runs in the second thanks to a Chelsey Conant double, and a passed ball allowed Conant to score from third, giving the Gulls the two run lead. In the 5th inning, the Gulls were down by two, but came within one run off a Colby single, brining in Laura Schack who had doubled to begin the inning.
Freshman Paula McGinn started the 7th off with a single and advanced to second on an Ashley Labella sacrifice hit to third. McGinn stole third and crossed home plate off of Colby's triple, knotting the game at four.
The Gulls post an overall record of 17-2-1, 10-1 in the CCC. The team hosts the University of New England today for a double header. The first pitch is set for 3:30p.m.
