Crew begins 2011-12 campaign
Full Results from the Texttile River Regatta

LOWELL, Mass. -
Crew kicked off its 2011-2012 campaign on a misty Sunday at the Textile River Regatta in Lowell.  The competition at this year's Textile was tougher than ever, but the Gull's depth proved strong as it put eight fours out on the water.

The novice crews started off the day with the Men, who crossed the line with the 5th fastest time of the eightcrews in their event.  Up next, Endicott sent out two women's crews.  The Women's Novice A 4+ (Annie Ahrens, Maria Battista, Shelby Webster, Marina Phillipps w/ Meaghan Moran as coxswain) claimed the bronze medal in a six-boat field.  The ladies were only bested by perennially strong programs, Simmons and Bowdoin.

In the varsity events, the men - many of whom have only one semester of rowing behind them - struggled to find their form, finishing 23rd and 25th in a strong 28-boat field.  The varsity women came up next to save the day.  The four of (C: Katie Cody, 4: Meaghan Moran, 3: Hannah Cushman, 2: Taylor Chisholm, 1: Haley Russo) crossed the line in 13th place of 27 boats, besting last years 14th place finish.  Not far behind in 17th was the four of (C: Mariah Scanlon, 4: Joy Harriman, 3: Emily Heath, 2: Jenn Thomas, 1: Andrea Ford).  Both crews finished ahead of several NECRL rival schools.

After a few weeks of competitive seat racing, the Endicott Crews are looking forward to getting into set lineups and getting into a rhythm together to take them through the rest of the fall season.  Up next is our first ever Blue/Green Scrimmage on Oct 8th, pitting two teams of same-grade crews against each other for bragging rights (and a little fun in the middle of a very competitive season).
