Crew medals at NECRL Halloween Regatta
The Gulls walked away with silver medals in the women's varsity 4+, men's novice 4+, and mixed 4+ after stacking up against league rivals Brandeis, Roger Williams, and Wentworth on the Charles River.  The novice men also walked away with the annual Halloween Regatta's bucket of candy for unanimously winning the coaches poll for best costumes.  The annual New England Collegiate Rowing League Halloween Regatta is always a fun way to end the season.  Crews row in costume down a give miles stake race course, a course in which crews race up river, turnaround a buoy, and race back.  The race is also much longer than typical fall races, which are about 3 miles long.
Up first, without their usual coxswain, the novice women had a rough outing, ending in a disqualification for passing a crew on the inside.  Despite that, the crew performed well, passing the second place Wentworth crew in the first half of the race and possibly moving on the Roger Williams crew who officially claimed victory.
The varsity men (C: Mike Herman, 4: Nate Simeon, 3: Clayton Morrissey, 2: Charles Nastasi, 1: Alston Adkins) raced next, coming off a good row in the Head of the Charles two weeks earlier.  The men crossed the line in third place, just six seconds behind Brandeis, despite being forced to stop for about 30 seconds due to a boat traveling against the river traffic pattern underneat a bridge they needed to pass under.

The next two events went much better for the Gulls.
Despite injuries to a couple of the top varsity women, the Endicott A entry (C: Maria Battista, 4: Meaghan Moran, 3: Emily Heath, 2: Jenn Thomas, 1: Andrea Ford) showed the team's depth by placing second in a five boat field, battling back and for with Roger Williams the whole second half of the race.
The novice men (C: Mariah Scanlon, 4: Ghaith Hamza, 3: Dan Richards, 2: Ian Kaeding, 1: Nick Landy) faired equally as well finishing second in their five boat event.
Wrapping up the day was the Mixed 4+, where two tired Endiott crews rowed strong depite 3 rowers in each boat already racing once.  Endicott A (C: Mariah Scanlon, 4: Joy Harriman, 3: Alston Adkins, 2: Clayton Morrissey, 1: Emily Heath) placed second of four crews.  Endicott B (C: Shelby Webster, 4: Annie Ahrens, 3: Andrea Ford, 2: Charles Nastasi, 1: Mike Herman) were third in the event.
After a week off, the Gulls will spend the next 4.5 months indoors, training to be an even faster crew for the spring sprinting season.
