Endicott Rips Past Bridgewater, 10-1

Nov. 29, 2007

BRIDGEWATER, MA - Endicott College scored 10 unanswered goals in a 10-1 thumping of Bridgewater State College on Wednesday night at the Bridgewater Ice Arena in Bridgewater, Massachusetts.

The Bears broke the ice just 4:17 into the first as freshman forward Lee Trot (Rehoboth, MA) beat Endicott goalkeeper Josh Provost (West Rutland, VT/Mount St. Joseph Academy) to put the home team up, 1-0. Captain Joe Allen (Weymouth, MA) and Mike Eagan (Hingham, MA) each earned an assist for Bridgewater.

After the early wakeup call, Endicott responded as Nick Colby (Salisbury, MA/Triton) received a pass from Paul Manfredi (Burlington, MA/Arlington Catholic) and ripped the puck past Dan Norton (Milton, MA) to even the game at 1-all.

Mark Gaudreau (Pittsfield, VT/Kents Hill) and Gary DeAsi (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) tallied back-to-back goals just 35 seconds apart (9:50 and 9:15) to put the Blue and Green ahead, 3-1. Endicott would take a 4-1 lead into the dressing room as Brett Erickson (Leominster, MA/St. Bernards) scored his first of three off the stick of Drew Bowden (Cumberland, ME/Greely) to give the Gulls a nice cushion after one.

Chris Garofalo (Peabody, MA/Bishop Fenwick) and captain Mike Ripley (Easton, CT/Fairfield Prep) served as the only goal scorers in the second as the Gulls used a pair of tallies exactly five minutes apart to push their lead to 6-1.

The offensive outpouring continued in the third as the Blue and Green found the back of the net four more times, including a pair of strikes by Erickson to record the hat-trick. In all, Endicott had seven separate goal scorers and 12 players notch at least one point in the win.

Despite the lopsided score, senior netminder Josh Provost was once again impressive in his second consecutive start as he turned away 28-of-29 shots faced, including 15 saves in the first period.

Endicott returns to action on Saturday evening as they play host to ACHA and NECHA newcomer, University of New England. The Gulls and the Nor'easters are set for a 7:00 p.m. face-off in Hamilton, Mass.
