Jan. 26, 2008

HAMILTON, Mass. - Endicott College used a three goal second period to skate past Bridgewater State College, 7-5, on Saturday evening in Hamilton, Massachusetts. With the win, Endicott improves to 9-8-1 overall and 6-2 in the North East Collegiate Hockey Association.

After over a month off, Endicott returned to the ice and quickly opened the scoring on a power play tally from Mike Ripley (Easton, Conn./Fairfield Prep) just 4:09 into the first to put EC up, 1-0. Bridgewater's Mike Logan (Pembroke, Mass.) fired back for the visitors with 3:56 left in the first period as he beat goaltender Josh Provost (West Rutland, Vt./Mount St. Joseph) with an unassisted goal to knot it at 1-all. Helping his own cause, Provost found a streaking Dan Greel (Rockport, Mass./Rockport) who ripped a shot past Dan Norton (Milton, Mass.) with under a minute left in the opening period to send the Gulls into the locker room with a 2-1 lead.

In the second, Gabe Carreiro (Chatham, Mass./North Field Mt. Hermon) found the back of the net off assists from Chris Garofalo (Peabody, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) and Dan Greel on the power play to increase the Gulls lead to two. Nick Colby (Salisbury, Mass./Triton) and Greel each added an additional tally with a Bridgewater goal sandwiched in between. Joe Allen (Weymouth, Mass.) struck before the end of the period for the visitors, making the score 5-3 Endicott after two.

Four more goals would be scored in the third before all was said in done - two by each team - as Carreiro notched is second of the night on assists from Brian Sullivan (Peabody, Mass./Bishop Fenwick) and Dan Greel. Chris Garofalo concluded the scoring with 13 seconds remaining to lift Endicott to a 7-5 win.

Dan Greel finished the night with two goals and three assists for a game-high five points. Carreiro had two goals while Chris Garofalo had a goal and two assists. Josh Provost made 24 saves while his counterpart, Dan Norton, registered 28 in the loss. The Endicott special teams unit was on display, as the Blue and Green pumped home four power play goals in the win.

Endicott returns to action on Saturday, February 2 as they travel to Poughkeepsie, N.Y. to square-off with Marist College. The two squads faced-off to a 4-4 tie back on November 3, 2007. Marist is currently ranked third in the regional rankings.
