Garofalo and Murray Lead The Way For Gulls

The Gulls bounced back Friday after a hard fought loss to Siena, to defeat University of Vermont in another close contest, 3-2. The Gulls struck first late in the first period as senior center Chris Garofalo (Peabody, MA) netted his seventh point in three games on a feed from defenseman Mike Feeheley (Simsbury, CT). UVM responded five minutes later when forward David Handy knotted the score on a two on one bid evening the game at 1. The second period was touch and go, as the Vermont Catamounts turned up the pressure recording an astonishing 21 shots on sophomore Matt Murray (Billerica, MA). However despite the onslaught, the Gulls were able to jump ahead once more on a goal from Bryan Caccamo (Milton, MA) assassinated by Matt Guidotti (Lebanon, NH). UVM would not be denied, after out playing Endicott most of the period, they eventually tied the game up with just 19 seconds remaining in the period. The Gulls took the lead for good in the third period when standout Chris Garofalo netted his second and game winning goal, sealing the deal for the Gulls for a 2-3 final. Endicott goaltender Matt Murray turned in a stellar effort, stopping 37 of the Catamount attempts. The Gulls host Daniel Webster Saturday night at 7:00pm.
