BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott College varsity athletics program finished 53rd overall out of more than 430 colleges and universities in the final 2022-23 Division III LEARFIELD Directors' Cup Standings, as announced by the National Association of Collegiate Athletic Directors (NACDA).
The Directors' Cup is awarded to the athletics program with the most broad-based participation and success in NCAA Tournament postseason competition. Standings for the Directors' Cup are based on a points system that rewards a school's finish in up to 18 sports – nine men and nine women – in NCAA Championships.
The Gulls compiled 341.50 points to rank first among all Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) institutions by more than 215 points (Nichols, 143rd overall, 2nd in CCC, 123 points).
Regionally, Endicott was ninth overall behind the following schools (overall ranking in parentheses): Tufts (2), Williams (3), MIT (4), Middlebury (8), Amherst (27), Bowdoin (41), Babson (44), Wesleyan (46).
The Gulls placed 53rd overall in the Directors' Cup behind the following NCAA Tournament finishes (place/points/round): football (17th/25/first round), women's volleyball (33rd/25/first round), men's ice hockey (3rd/83/semifinals), baseball (7th/73/College World Series), men's golf (26th/48/opening round), softball (33rd/37.5/regionals), women's tennis (17th/50/second round).
The College's best finish occurred in 2013-14 when the Gulls ranked No. 28 overall (445.00 points).

SCORING SYSTEM EXPLAINED
Overall, 18 sports are counted in the final DIII standings, four of which must be men's and women's soccer and men's and women's basketball. The next highest (14 max.) sports scored for each institution, regardless of gender, are used in the standings.
Fall sports: men's and women's cross country, field hockey, football, men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, and men's water polo.
Winter sports: men's and women's basketball, fencing, men's and women's ice hockey, rifle, skiing, men's and women's swimming, men's and women's indoor track and field, men's wrestling.
Spring sports: baseball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, women's rowing, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, men's volleyball, women's water polo.
