HOLYOKE, MA - Endicott College went up against two more to NESCAC schools Saturday in the second round of the Hall of Fame Invitational sponsored by Amherst College and split with Bowdoin College (W, 3-1) and Williams College (L, 3-1) at Mt. Holyoke College.
Endicott went 2-2, finishing in 10th place in the 16-team field.
After losing the first game 30-26 to the Polar Bears, the Gulls (19-11) won three straight (30-28, 30-21, 31-29). Endicott could not carry the momentum into the nightcap however, as the Ephs won 30-18, 30-23, 30-32, 30-19.
Kaylee Krom (Strasburg, CO/Strasburg) helped the Gulls beat Bowdoin with nine kills, three aces and 10 digs. Meghan Hall (Santa Cruz, CA/Aptos) added 34 assists, eight kills and 14 digs, Patty Mikan (Shelton, Ct/St. Joseph's) had 10 digs and three aces, Katelyn Smith (Ballston Lake, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) recorded six aces and Sara Moore (Guilford, CT/Guilford) had 11 kills. Endicott also received 12 digs from Brittany Nolan (Monroe, CT/Masuk).
In the loss to Williams, Moore had 11 kills and two blocks and Krom recorded three aces, 10 kills and 16 digs while Nolan dug up 10 balls and Hall handed out 29 helpers and added 12 digs.
The Gulls will compete next Saturday in the Judges Classic beginning Friday at Brandeis College.
