Springfield, Mass. – Endicott junior forward \#Colleen Pepin\# (Fairhaven, Mass.) tallied all three goals for the Blue and Green to hold off Western New England College in a 3-2 overtime thriller on Saturday afternoon. The road victory for the Gulls improved their record to 3-2-1 (2-0 TCCC) while the Golden Bears drop to 3-4 (1-1 TCCC).
Pepin scored the game-winner, unassisted, 7:56 into the first overtime period to lift her squad to victory.
The Gulls appeared poised for a convincing win as Pepin wasted no time putting Endicott ahead early in the first half. Just over ten minutes into the opening half, Pepin scored her second goal of the season on an unassisted play to put the visitors up 1-0.
At 26:59, Pepin was back on the attack again, this time with an assist from senior midfielder \#Kayla Plante\# (Sanford, Maine) who found her teammate for the game's second goal.
WNEC, however, scored an important goal to cut the lead down to 2-1 going into half as Golden Bears junior forward Sara McMurray (Enfield, Conn.) netted a goal in the 32nd minute to put the home team on the board.
At the tail end of the second half at 83:04, McMurray struck again with the equalizer on another unassisted play to tie the match at 2-2, setting up Pepin for the game-winning goal for Endicott in overtime.
Between the posts for both teams were Endicott freshman \#Natalie Wyrsch\# (Dover, N.H.), who made five saves in the victory, and WNEC freshman Victoria Trezise (Islip, N.Y.), who made six stops of her own.
Endicott returns to the pitch on Tuesday, September 21 for a 3:30 pm showdown with TCCC foe University of New England. The game will be live webcasted on Endicott Gulls All-Access for no charge by clicking here.
