Gulls Dominate Western Connecticut State, 57-0

DANBURY, Conn. – In their sixth match of the 2016-2017 season, the Endicott Women's Club Rugby team defeated Commonwealth Coast Rugby Conference (CCRC) opponent Western Connecticut State 57-0. The Gulls move to a perfect 6-0 on the season as they prepare to take on Salve Regina on October 30th.

The match opened up as a defensive battle as both teams were unable to score in the early minutes of play. Western Connecticut controlled the tempo defensively and forced the Gulls to support faster offensively.

"We got off to a frantic start and it took us a while to find our flow in the rain," said Endicott assistant coach Sierra Kenkel. "After we settled down we were able to put in a steady stream of tries."

The Gulls were led by sophomore Jordan Zak (Brimfield, Mass.) who registered three tires on the day. Shelby Stevenson (South Dennis, Mass.), Maggie Birge (Rindge, N.H.), Samantha Hontas (Lee. Mass.), Reagan Cerci (Easton, Mass.), and Katie Page (Salem, Mass.) also contributed one try a piece.

Page also kicked three conversions, while Amanda Poulin (Turner, Maine) kicked two.

Endicott will return to action on Saturday, October 30th when the Gulls host Salve Regina on Senior Day at 2:30 p.m.
