Gulls Down Eastern Connecticut, 52-12

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's club rugby team hosted Eastern Connecticut State University over the weekend and defeated the Warriors 52-12. The match marked the Gulls second CCRC matchup of the season and first home match as well.

The Gulls came into the match looking to build off their success last week after earning a 41-17 victory over Wentworth. The Blue and Green jumped out to an early lead with a myriad of players contributing both offensively and defensively.

"We really improved on our continuity coming out of last week" said Endicott women's rugby head coach Emily Record. "This week we will need to continue working on our continuity while also working on our defense."

Sophomore Shelby Stevenson (South Dennis, Mass. ) and junior Samantha Hontas (Lee, Mass.) led the way for the Gulls on both sides of the ball. Stevenson was dominant contributing three tries for Endicott while Hontas contributed several line breaks and some try saving tackles.

Endicott will return to action in another CCRC match-up against UMass-Dartmouth on October 1st at 10 a.m.
